LARGE ASIAN SCULPTURED DOLL by LILLI BAITZ

Splendida statua dai tratti asiatici scolpita dalla famosa artista Lilli baitz (a fianco una dolcissima bambola francese, testa in cartapesta e corpo in stoffa imbottita di paglia, con zoccoli ai piedi, epoca inizio 900, manifattura sconosciuta). Questo personaggio ha un volto dall'espressione triste, mani finemente intagliate, probabilmente stringevano un oggetto oggi mancante...il vestito in seta è molto danneggiato, ho preferito tenerlo così com'è piuttosto che rimpiazzarlo con un abito non originale. La parrucca è stata sostituita, perchè mancante all'epoca dell'acquisto. La donna dai tratti orientali è fissata su una base erbosa, e quindi direi che è più simile ad una statua decorativa che ad una bambola. All'incirca misura 55 cm di altezza.

Stunning large asian doll sculptured by the well known artist Lilli Baitz, made in Germany (at her side a sweet French doll, papier-mache head and wooven stuffed cloth body, clogs, early 1900, unknown manufacture). This character doll has a face showing a sad expression, hands are sculptured in a very detailed way, likely they were holding an object now missing...the original silk costume is really deteriorated, and wig is replaced. This exotic woman is standing and fixed to a grass base, thus I suppose she is more similar to a large realistic figure than to a doll. Approx 55 cm (22 in) high.
