LE BAMBOLE LENCI le bambole di stoffa italiane di Giorgi e Somalvico

RECENSIONE IN INGLESE

LENCI ITALIAN FELT DOLLS BOOK RARE OOP § GREAT PHOTOS §

This book is LE BAMBOLE LENCI, Le bambole di stoffa italiane, printed in 2003 first edition, authors Michela Giorgi and Henrietta Somalvico, published by Idea Libri, hardcover with d/j, in brand new conditions, 208 pages full of colour photos and original b/w catalogue images of rare Lenci dolls, all made in Italy. Quite heavy book, in the range 1-2 kg (2-4 lbs). This reference book is in Italian, but you do not need to read the text as the volume is wonderfully illustrated, with hundreds of colour photos of dolls made of cloth painted by artists working for Lenci company, founded in Torino in 1919 by Elena Konig Scavini. The book documents many antique dolls never before identified…special emphasis is given to details useful to recognize authentic Lenci dolls from imitations (heads, eyes, sewing, materials used, models, dresses, shoes…) and to the different series of dolls: Boudoir deco ladies, puppets, Miniatures, Mascottes, Pierrot, ethnic and regional dolls, Negretti or black dolls, and of course Childs with surprised eyes, Bambini and Grugnetti from various series (n. 110, 111, 300…), Sportive children, and toys. A final section is also devoted to other Italian manufactures contemporary to Lenci who produced similar felt and cloth dolls (Alberani Vecchiotti Milano, Alma, Anili, Eros, Fata, Fiori, Furga, Karavan, Creazioni Magis, Magit, Marguirin Torino, Messina Vat, Regina Firenze and others)!!! Hard to find book on the market, which is getting more and more rare. Invaluable pictorial survey to aid collectors and dealers in the identification of antique dolls handmade by Lenci factory. A wonderful source of information (marks included).
